IP38-138 Estrellita, Favorite Anchorage Ever |
Viewed 980 time(s) |
These photos are from Helen Reef in Toby State, Palau. She is 300 miles south of the main island of Koror and only 200 miles north of New Guinea. Her hidden reef has been the death of wooden sailing ships and modern cargo ships alike. Her reef only breaks at low tide, her only land mass a single shifting sand bar, home to 3 conservation officers, 2 dogs, thousands of sea birds and a host of sea turtles who seek out the warm sand to incubate their young. She sees only about 3 to 5 yachts a year and in fair weather she is the most wonderful anchorage in the Pacific.
When you look at these photos you may have to remind yourself that most were taken UNDER the water. Crystal.
From Helen we sailed to the Philippines. The last 3 photos here are of a FAD, Fish Aggregation Device, we saw along the way. This one we saw in fair weather, the next one we banged into at 7 knots in the dead of night. Good Morning!
